It is possible that Pendar is the greatest visionary of this age. His quest is to discover the secret of immortality, and he has gone to extreme lengths to pursue it. He fractured the Emerald Tower - a magical order - causing half of the elven wizards to foresake their woodland home forever.

After a long and arduous journey, Pendar's band of elves finally found a place where they could study ice magic - which Pendar believes is key to his quest. Pendar himself raised the Azure Tower with magic and established a new order of sorcerous elves.

Old, even by elven standards, Pendar is driven by a fear of death - but also by a great deal of novel research. He is brilliant, calculating, and draws ever closer to the secrets he seeks.
