Boulder is the last of the moving stone guardians. All his fellows have slowed down and stopped. Stone guardians generally communicate through telepathy -- which does not work for Boulder talking to the goblins. So Boulder has been learning to speak -- even though he’s not really built for it.

Having lost his own people to time and the changing world, Boulder has adopted the goblins as his family -- and they have adopted him.
